North Vancouver, B.C.
Vanpile performed maintenance dredge at Kinder Morgan, moving approximately 1300 m3 of contaminated material.
The maintenance dredging was done along berths one, four and five at Kinder Morgan’s Vancouver Wharves location. The contaminated dredge material was placed by clamshell onto a small, plas-tic lined flat scow. As decant water was not permitted back into Burrard Inlet, a key component was to create a completely sealed holding platform:
After initial drainage of approximately twelve hours, dredge material was trans-ferred by clamshell to haul trucks dockside, where it was to be stockpiled sepa-rately from that of berths four and five. Upon acceptable levels of decant, all materials were hauled to Sumas Remediation’s Burnaby treatment facility.
