Demolition of approximately 4,740 tonnes of creosote treated timber dock and dredging 39,800 cubic metres of contaminated sediments followed by the placement of approximately 39,300 cubic metres engineered capping material.
Approximately 9,750 cubic metres of dredged material was removed from underneath a concrete dock with the use of a Gradall situated on a Flexifloat barge and the remaining dredged material was removed with a marine derrick and clamshell bucket.
The under-pier capping material would be placed with a Gradall floating conveyor and the open-water areas would be placed with a marine derrick.
A key feature of the project was the use of an engineered silt curtain situated on top of a re-driven sheet pile wall to ensure containment of contaminants within the project area during dredging and cap placement.
