VanPile’s scope of work included:

  • Demolition of approximately 4,740 tonnes of creosote treated timber dock and dredging 39,800 cubic metres of contaminated sediments followed by the placement of approximately 39,300 cubic metres engineered capping material.
  • Approximately 9,750 cubic metres of dredged material was removed from underneath a concrete dock with the use of a Gradall situated on a Flexifloat barge and the remaining dredged material was removed with a marine derrick and clamshell bucket.
  • The under-pier capping material would be placed with a Gradall floating conveyor and the open-water areas would be placed with a marine derrick.
  • A key feature of the project was the use of an engineered silt curtain situated on top of a re-driven sheet pile wall to ensure containment of contaminants within the project area during dredging and cap placement.
